Hands (Ongoing), needlefelted wool on wool sweaters

As the reality of the pandemic set in I began to become obsessed with drawing hands, and thinking about forms of touch. I was inspired by artist Elizabeth Haidle to try needlefelting directly on to wool sweaters. Hands become the most obvious subject to me and I started by needlefelting a secondhand cardigan with small, different shaped hands all over. From there I wanted to expand this work and began exploring more ways that the hands could interact and touch, each sweater has been for someone and it has influenced the imagery used.
